Community Involvement

Annual Banquet

M-O FCU hosts an Annual Banquet, held each year on the last Saturday in January. The evening starts with a social hour, followed by dinner, entertainment, and door prizes. Each year the evening’s festivities also revolve around a theme.

The 2015 banquet's theme was "Celebrating Victories".  A slideshow played during the social hour and dinner showing all the activities M-O FCU participated in during 2014.  After a short business meeting, a few rounds of "Touchdown Bingo" were enjoyed, where participants had to yell 'touchdown" instead of "bingo."

CU Youth Week

It is important to teach children healthy financial habits when they are young. Therefore, we invite youth 19 and under to join us each April to celebrate Credit Union Youth Week.

This year we served walking tacos to youth and their parents on Thursday afternoon.  All week we gave away grab bags filled with goodies, and each child in attendance also received a day pass to the new Splash Central Waterpark in Huron.  We also constructed a Photo Booth and provided hats and mustaches for photo taking props.  Youth and their parents, along with the staff, had fun getting in the Photo Booth and taking pictures!

CU Week

International Credit Union Day is celebrated the third Thursday in October. However, we set aside the whole week to celebrate and thank our members for their continued support. The idea started as a way to acknowledge both the credit unions’ important role in creating opportunities for their members and communities and the achievements of their members. Each year we take the opportunity to remind our current members why they belong to a credit union and show our appreciation for their membership!

Each year M-O FCU likes to stay involved with some of the parades in Huron and the surrounding communities. The most recent parades we have participated in include:
  • Parade of Lights  M-O participated in the Huron Chamber's "A Cartoon Christmas" Parade of Lights.  The theme inspired our 'Scooby Doo' entry.  We completely wrapped a van to make the Mystery Machine, and has staff and family dress up as characters from the Scooby Doo gang.  We received an award for "Best Portrayal of Parade Theme."  *see picture below
  • High School Parades  Each year M-O likes to support the local schools by participating in their Homecoming Parades.  The picture below shows the most recent parade we participated in.

Other Community Involvement

M-O FCU stays very busy throughout the year participating in various community service projects and events. Below are just a few of the projects and events:
