Community Involvement

Annual Banquet

M-O FCU hosts an Annual Banquet, held each year. The evening starts with a social hour, followed by dinner, entertainment, and door prizes. Each year the evening’s festivities also revolve around a theme.

The 2017 banquet's theme was "Route 66", as M-O FCU finished up their 66th year in business just a few months prior to the Banquet.  A slideshow played during the social hour and dinner showing all the activities M-O FCU participated in during 2016.  After a short business meeting, a few rounds of Bingo were enjoyed, where participants had the opportunity to win vehicles (table decor size) with gas gift cards.

CU Youth Week

It is important to teach children healthy financial habits when they are young. Therefore, we invite youth 19 and under to join us each April to celebrate Credit Union Youth Month.

This year's theme was "Give a Hoot About Saving."  Owls represent wisdom, and nothing is wiser than learning to save!  In honor of the theme we served owl themed treats to youth and their parents with our "Whooo's Hungry Event!"

We also had a Prize Nest where any youth who deposited money into their account during the month were able to pick a prize from the "prize nest."

Also, any youth account opened during April received a bonus depoit!

CU Week

International Credit Union Day is celebrated the third Thursday in October. However, we set aside the whole week to celebrate and thank our members for their continued support. The idea started as a way to acknowledge both the credit unions’ important role in creating opportunities for their members and communities and the achievements of their members. Each year we take the opportunity to remind our current members why they belong to a credit union and show our appreciation for their membership!

Parades

Each year M-O FCU likes to stay involved with some of the parades in Huron and the surrounding communities. The most recent parades we have participated in include:
  • Huron Homecoming Parade:  M-O FCU participated in the HHS Homecoming parade, with the Olympic theme of, "Team HHS USA Homecoming.  To follow the theme, our float portrayed a three-layered podium complete with staff photos on poles wrapped in gold, silver, and bronze.  At the front of the trailer we displays an 'Olympic Torch', along the back of the trailer were some Olympic rings, and various red, white and blue decorations adorned the rest of the trailer.      *see picture below (left)
  • Wolsey Homecoming Parade:  M-O FCU participated in the Wolsey-Wessington Disney themed Homecoming parade in 2015.  The Finding Nemo themed float was complete with a large Nemo surrounded by other characters from the movie 'swimming' around him.  Finding Nemo fruit snacks were handed out to people along the parade route.      *see picture below (right)
